Mental Portraits - Translations of << Jupiter et Thétis >>
These video works depict excerpts of visitors’ unconscious experience while admiring the painting Jupiter et Thétis (1811) by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres as part of the installation Mental Translations at Musée Granet, Aix.
Depending on their own past experiences, their varying exposures to art, and whether or not they had read or discussed about the painting beforehand, each visitor produces a unique portrait through their neural reaction and connection to the painting’s visual elements.
48 more portraits in progress.
